Latest news from across the Diocese of East Anglia includes charity carols in King’s Lynn, a Catenian dinner and a Holocaust memorial day.
The Syro Malabar Catholic Community in King’s Lynn have donated £485 to St Vincent de Paul (SVP) King’s Lynn, money which was raised through Carol services held over Christmas.
Members of the Syro Malabar Catholic Community, including children (pictured above), took part in the celebrations which circulated around most of the Indian family homes in and around King’s Lynn.
Rinto Kuruvila, a Syro-Malabar Catholic Community King’s Lynn Trustee, said: “We are very happy to have raised so much money and are extremely proud to have donated the sum to the St Vincent de Paul Society in King’s Lynn, which does so much charity work there.”
At its Ladies Night in February the Ipswich Circle of the Catenians were joined by guest Debbie Richards who represented the Ipswich SVP.
After the dinner, the Circle President, Gerry Elliott, presented Debbie (pictured right) with a cheque for £100 as a donation towards the Ipswich SVP’s expenses.
The presentation was part of the Circle’s progamme of reaching out and supporting other organisations in the local Catholic community.
A choir from St Martha’s Catholic Primary School (pictured right), King’s Lynn, took part in a Holocaust memorial day in King’s Lynn Town Hall at 12 noon on Sunday January 27. Headteacher Aidan McGovern said: “This is the 15th year that the choir have been involved with the service and, as always, it was a memorable and emotional event.”
