Priest induction, Advent retreat and Epiphany crib festival

Latest news from across the Diocese of East Anglia includes a new priest induction, an Advent retreat weekend and an Epiphany crib festival.

The Diocesan Youth Mission Team Ignite is leading a Advent Retreat Weekend in the Parish of Brandon and Mildenhall this weekend to help them enter into the season of Advent.

Friday November 30: Evening of Recollection, 7:30 to 9pm pm St Thomas of Canterbury Church, Brandon. A time of prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament with reflections led by the Members of the Mission Team. Light snacks and teas and coffees afterwards

Saturday December 1, 10am to 4pm: Retreat Day for Readers, Ministers of Holy Communion and Parish Volunteers at St John the Evangelist, Mildenhall. A light lunch will be provided.

Saturday December 1, 7:30pm: Blessed Sacrament Procession and Ignite Prayer Vigil at

St. John the Evangelist, Mildenhall. A Blessed Sacrament procession around the pedestrianised area immediately in front of the church followed by a prayer vigil.

Hot chocolate, teas, coffees and snacks will be provided and the doors of the Church will open and people will be invited to come in and light a candle. There will be interactive prayer stations around the main body of the Church and Adoration in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.  

Sunday December 2: Mission Team will run a children’s liturgy and speak at each Mass.

12:30 pm Parish Advent Party. With bring and share international lunch at St Thomas of Canterbury Brandon.


St Helen’s RC Church in Hoveton will be staging an Epiphany Crib Festival featuring Nativity scenes from around the world on Saturday January 5 and Sunday January 6 from 10am to 4pm.
