Almost 10,000 young Catholics from across the country were joined by 175 from the Diocese of East Anglia at the Flame event which filled the SSE Wembley Arena in London last Saturday.
Flame is a national youth event organised by CYMFED (Catholic Youth Ministry Federation) and was held for the third time this year.
The day was made up of talks from speakers such as Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Cardinal Bo from Myanmar in Burma, Mike Pilvachi (the founder of Soul Survivor) and David Wells.
There was also input from organisations such as CAFOD which highlighted the plight of refugees and dramas from the Rise Theatre.
Highlights of the day included worship led by Christian worship artist Matt Redman along with the Catholic worship group One Hope Project and a time of to encounter Christ through adoration and benediction led by Cardinal Vincent Nichols.
Ignite team leader Catherine Williams, said: "It was a wonderful event to be a part of, not least just to grow in fellowship with one another and to witness the vibrancy of the Catholic Church with a huge variety of different groups from across the Church in Britain being represented.
"It reminded us, as Cardinal Bo said in his talk, that we "are made for greater things. Let hope put fire into your hearts and make you a great human being'.”
Clare Storey, who attended from Ramsey, said: "It was a really fantastic day, with lots of thought-provoking moments. Rise Theatre gave a face to the often invisible refugees and those who are displaced due to war and desperate poverty that are too difficult for us to comprehend.
"Volunteers from CAFOD spoke about their experiences of visiting a refugee camp in Lebanon, and Sarah Teather from the Jesuit Refugee Service spoke about the work they do in supporting those who arrive in England with nothing. This was interspersed with great worship music from Matt Redmanand Guvna B, and a beautiful liturgy towards the end. I am looking forward to the next one already."
A message from Pope Francis was read out which said: "The Holy Father encourages all of you to see in this moment an opportunity to pray together and to learn from one another, so that your lives may be enriched and renewed. He especially prays that Flame 2017 may foster a greater zeal within all of you to be witnesses to Christ's love in the community.
This is the third time the event has run and this year drew in around 10,000 youth from across the country.
